Seattle Children's Celebrates Safety Week 2025

SPS is celebrating Safety Week on March 9-15! In celebration of #SPSsafetyweek2025, we’re highlighting the awesome patient and employee safety improvement work within our organizations! Next up is Seattle Children's Hospital.

Historically, Seattle Children’s has observed the National Patient Safety Awareness Week as a way to grow more awareness about patient safety and highlight safety and quality improvement work.

With a steadfast commitment to health equity and anti-racism, and elevating quality and safety to produce the best outcomes for patients and their families, Seattle Children’s has changed its approach to Safety Awareness Week by being more intentional and inclusive of what safety means at Seattle Children’s.

Seattle Children’s now celebrates Safety Awareness Week from March 9-15. Each day focuses on essential objectives: "Mapping the Course" initiates the journey toward safety excellence, "Pack the Essentials" ensures the team is equipped for success, "Using the Compass" guides with data-driven precision, "Pause and Refuel" emphasizes self-care and connection, and "Enjoy the View" allows reflection, celebration, and reinforcement of the commitment to safety and excellence.

Together, SPS and Seattle Children’s aim to build a safer, stronger future for all kids.

Each weekday features the different safety themes mentioned above:

  • Monday, March 10: Map the Course

  • Tuesday, March 11: Pack the Essentials

  • Wednesday, March 12: Use the Compass

  • Thursday, March 13: Pause and Refuel

  • Friday, March 14 to Saturday, March 15: Enjoy the View

Activities include:

  • Distribution of Safety Toolkit to all units and departments

  • Safety Awareness Week booth with games and prizes

  • Connection Cart in collaboration with the Center for Quality and Patient Safety

  • Virtual activities such as daily quizzes and scavenger hunt

  • “I SAW Safety” card campaign to share safety commitments
