Carilion Children's Hospital Celebrates Safety Week

In conjunction with IHI, SPS is celebrating Safety Week on March 12-18! In celebration of #SPSsafetyweek2023, we’re highlighting the awesome patient and employee safety improvement work going on within our organizations! Next up is Carilion Children's Hospital who’s celebrating their inpatient units.

In 2022, Carilion Children's celebrated big milestones on their journey to zero harm:

Pediatrics Unit Celebrations:

• Zero CAUTIs for one year

• Zero CLABSIs for seven years

• Zero Pressure Injuries for two years

PICU Celebrations:

• Zero VAEs for one year

• Zero CAUTIs for three years

• Zero CLABSIs for three years

• Achieved KPI for decreasing the number of unplanned extubations

NICU Accomplishments:

• Zero CAUTIs for two years

• Achieved KPI goal – 95% consent completion

• Achieved CLABSI Insertion Bundle compliance goal
